It has been my privilege and joy for the past twenty-five years to disciple new converts and see their lives changed for the glory of God. The Bible study I have chosen to use is the Won By One Bible Study Course. When I received Jesus Christ as my Savior at thirty-one years of age there was a lot of changing and growing that needed to take place. I'm thankful for the pastor who led me to Christ and for his heart for discipleship. Shortly after my salvation, he came to my home and introduced me to the Won By One Bible Study. Each week he was faithful to meet with me and teach me the principles, commands and promises of God's Word. I immediately saw the benefit of the Won By One Bible Study and I wanted others to have the same benefit of discipleship I had. I believe it made the difference in my life that Christ intended, and I knew it could make a difference in the lives of others.

Working on Wall Street, I knew I was in a good place to share God's Word. I began teaching the Won By One Bible Study after the work day and not only saw many coworkers grow in Christ, but many come to know Him as well. What I like most about the Won By One Bible Study is it allows the discipler to pour his life and Christian experience into the disciple. I highly recommend this study to the faithful servants of Christ who have a desire to be used of God in a mighty way.

My name is Rob Finch and I was first introduced to the Won by One discipleship ministry back in 1980/81. I was in my first full time pastoral role in a Baptist church in Kansas City. I was the Director of Christian Education when the senior pastor shared with me the program and how it worked. While I had recently graduated from a Bible college, I still took a crash-course in the Won By One curriculum in order to be a certified instructor. I was especially impressed with the beginning emphasis on Bible doctrine which continues through half of the book. The material does a great job with laying out what we would call a brief overview of "Systematic Theology" which is absolutely necessary before moving on to the other issues of Christianity. It lays the foundation for proper evangelism and continuing discipleship discussions. I have lost track of how many lessons and students I have taught, and how many success stories I have witnessed over the last 25 years, but there have been many. I have used the program in the states of Kansas, New Jersey, and New York as well as overseas in the Republic of South Africa. My wife and I have witnessed men and women from different countries, cultures, as well as religious and economic backgrounds come to know Christ as Savior through this Bible study material. There have been a few areas in which we have made changes, but the overall format has worked wonderful for us.

If I were to give the reasons for its tremendous success for us, I guess it would be because it is a solid doctrinal study which when done in a private setting leads into other tremendous discussions of faith. Each successive weekly study in the comfortable setting of the student's own home always leads to a close bond between me and the person or couple that I am working with. My students have always been very disappointed when the six months were over, and some have continued on into further doctrinal studies. I have recently trained a group of twelve people in my present church ministry to become disciplers using this material. They are waiting upon the Lord for new or immature Christians, and non-believers that they may disciple using the Won By One format. I would greatly encourage all that are looking for a great way to be a faithful disciple-maker to become a student of, and be trained in, the Won by One method of discipleship, and then lead another person on into the incredible journey of the doctrines of the Bible, and win them to Christ. This by its very nature is not growth by addition, but growth by multiplication, as each graduating student has the potential to become another certified instructor to lead others and teach them in the ways of Christ. You can never go wrong by faithfully teaching the Word of God to someone who has an interest to hear, and after all, "Faith comes by hearing...the Word of God" (Romans 10:17).

I just wanted to say thank you for the awesome Bible course “Won by One”. I first came across this course while deployed to southern Iraq in the summer of 2004. A fellow Marine buddy and I used this course to teach some new believers there. I am currently deployed again, only this time I’m a little further south of Iraq in the country of Qatar. We’re still supporting the war on terror and where I am is known as the gateway to the entire Area of Operations (AOR). This includes the horn of Africa, Iraq and Afghanistan. Your Bible course is a real blessing and since I found it in Iraq I’m using it here again to lead a Bible study through the base Chapel. Although currently I’m just using my copy of the book I got in Iraq here at Al Udied Air Base. I’ve asked the Chapel here to purchase more copies of this study and I’m waiting to hear back from them if they are able buy some.

I know that I am very far away right now in the Middle East in a little country in the Persian Gulf, it’s next to Iran and Saudi Arabia. It’s a little smaller than the state of Connecticut, but the Lord is all over the Earth and isn’t it awesome that his Word is even being spread through our Military! In fact since the war started in Iraq there’s even a new Baptist Church in Baghdad, the first ever! But I’ll bet you never heard that story on CNN! God is moving here in the Middle East AMEN!?

Back in the late 1980's, while I was a Youth Pastor, I was looking for a booklet to use for discipleship of some young couples in our church in Illinois. I had access to thirteen different studies, and I began to compare them by way of subject matter, solid grounding potential, and Biblical content. Of course, you often want to tweak the materials a bit to meet your own preferences, but overall I have been very pleased with the Won by One booklet.

Just under fourteen years ago we planted a church in Manitoba. Since the beginning we have used the Won by One booklet and have led many people through that study. Other people in our church have also used it to disciple people that they have led to Christ. It is usually a new believer with whom we walk through the booklet, but I have also led two adults to Christ by starting with lesson one.

This past March I began using the Won by One booklet in our adult Sunday School class. My goal has been two-fold: 1) To further ground our adults in these key truths 2) To explain it in such a way to others that they can then go out and find someone with whom they can walk through this booklet. We are seeking to go from additions to the family of God to multiplications of the family of God.

There are a couple of the things I like about the book. One is the length of time it takes to go through it. By taking one lesson per week, you actually spend about six months with the new believer, and it becomes a forum for them to ask all kinds of questions to you, the instructor. I think that this nurturing is very helpful, especially in our community. I have also found that the study is a gauge as to how the new believer's spiritual life is going to go. If they come with lessons uncompleted, cancel for whatever reasons but always possess a "good excuse," their spiritual life will be just as unstable. On the other hand, when the six month study has gone well and the student has worked hard, fruit that remains is the most common outcome. One man actually finished his study while serving time in our local correctional facility. Things done prior to his conversion had come back to roost. Instead of that becoming a stumbling stone, it became a stepping block. Today that man is one of our most faithful and serving converts.
